Since 1989, Beacons Business Interiors has steadily grown into a leading office fit-out specialist, working with organisations throughout the UK to provide inspiring and efficient working environments. The BBI Group now also contains the PJE Business Solutions Company.
BBI’s project management costs are calculated by combining data from a customised Goldmine CRM system and Sage 50 Financials. As there are two companies, the data comes from four different data sources. The company had a legacy system written in Microsoft Access that was starting to creek a little at the new business requirements and data volumes the expanding group was experiencing.
We created a new SQL server database and developed two stand alone exe programs. One program is installed on the server as an automated process, updating SQL Server shadow tables several times a day with any data updates from either Sage or Goldmine systems.
The second program consolidates and summarises the management data in a variety of formats. Each summary line has a drill down so that the source transactions can examined when required. A series of high-performance data filters allow meaningful datasets to be prepared within a fraction of a second.
